visit to Bordeaux
Last night we had quite the thunder and lightening storm. I woke up at 4 am and had a hard time getting back to sleep. Thankfully Hannah slept through it and didn’t even hear my alarm go off. Nancy drove me, Hannah, and my mom to Saint Andre de Cubzac this morning to take the train into Bordeaux.

What beautiful views we had from the train of vineyards in every direction. Quite a change from all of the wheat and sunflower fields we had seen in other parts of the country! I hadn’t been to Bordeaux in 20 years and so much had changed. Lots of new buildings and changes to old ones. I visited my old workplace - l’office de tourisme - and the inside was unrecognizable! It was completely changed with partitions put up and it had a whole new store section. We bought tickets for the tourist train (something I used to sell 20 years ago!) and enjoyed the visit while it rained outside. We walked around rue Saint Catherine and sought shelter from the rain in a little cafe and stayed there for lunch. After I bought canalés for everyone to try, but the Bordeaux speciality was not a hit with everyone.
We did a little more window shopping and were headed to the jardin public when my mom realized she had lost her hearing aide. We spent the rest of the afternoon retracing our steps and fruitlessly searching Bordeaux for a needle in a haystack.
I didnt get any other pictures today and now I’m packing for our return to Paris tomorrow.
