Playtime in Bourg

We had a tasty breakfast of chocolatines and orange juice before Hannah, mom and I took a walk around Bourg and stopped at the playground. We saw many “knockers” in the shape of hands on house doors and started collecting pictures of them.

Nancy walked with us to the Carrefour grocery store and we enjoyed the air conditioning as it was already 100 degrees outside by 10 AM. Hannah was thrilled to buy maple syrup so we could make pancakes tomorrow morning. We stayed inside the rest of the morning in front of the fans until we had guests over. Nancy invited the woman who owns the local organic shop and her 3 kids (Mila 9, Timothé 7, and baby) to come over to make chocolate chip cookies with us. What fun we had and the kids learned some
new vocabulary words and a little about the different systems of measurement. They were delicious!

At 4, Hannah, Mila, mom and I walked down by the port to the local swimming pool. It was so nice to cool off and play in the water. The girls were able to communicate through hand motions and minimal translation from me. They improvised many creative games which included: diving competitions,
playing handball with a kleenex pouch, and balancing water bottles on their heads on the walk home.

It was a great day!  Luckily tomorrow is supposed to be cooler with the high being only 90. phew!
