Revisiting old memories
This morning Hannah and I had breakfast with my friend Mariamne who I met while studying here in 1996. We ate at Cafe Brant, an old hangout from our college days that was recently renovated and now very posh. It was so wonderful to catch up with her and hear about her experiences teaching English to high schoolers in Strasbourg. We walked to the Orangerie for Hannah to play in the two playgrounds. She loved talking to Mariamne in English. Then we all walked to the new Syracuse Center where we got a tour and met the new director. It was fun talking about “the old days” and remembering our professors and funny things we had done. I loved hearing about the new students and the programs going on.
On our way home we got caught in a rain storm. Hannah and I turned up at Rosette’s soaking wet as if we had stood in the shower for a good 10 min with our clothes on! After some hot cocoa and dry clothes, we took a little break before we picked up Cyrille and Sibylle to play. Rosette drove all of us to the Orangerie where the kids drove little cars on a track and me and the 3 kids took a row boat around the park. Rosette treated us all to ice cream before we came back to Anne’s house. Hannah just doesn’t want to leave her friends.

Anne and Benoit drove us out to the country to have a traditional alsatian specialty - la tarte flambée. The kids loved playing outside the restaurant and we all loved the delicious food.
Sounds like a fun day, even with the liquid sunshine!! Great adventures and memories for you both!!
