Magical Mont Saint Michel
Today we left Honfleur and drove in the rain to Mont Saint Michel. It was auch a majestic site as we drove the last 10 km closer. We parked our rental car in the hotel parking lot, then took the shuttle to the bridge, then walked over the bridge and found our way to our little hotel on the island.

After a quick snack (we had an impossible time finding a place to get lunch on a Sunday in the small towns in between Honfleur and MSM) we toured the
museums (Hannah enjoyed the torture exhibits and prisons!) and explored the Abbey.
We walked back along the ramparts in the wind, then had dinner down the street from our hotel. Back to our room to watch the tide quickly come back in and Hannah led us in a book club - where we each shared about the books we are reading.
Yesterday we caravanned behind Gaelle, Julien, and NoĆ«, while Cerise and Capucine rode in our car to Valletot sur mer. It was a beautiful village where many of Gaelle’s extended family members have houses. We had a yummy picnic lunch and entertained ourselves by playing in the rough waves, using rocks as chalk to draw on stones and bodies, tidepooling, reading, and boogie boarding down the rocks!
The highlight of my day was when a woman came up to say hello to Gaelle and Julien with cheek kisses. I thought she looked like a famous French actress, and when I said so later Gaelle said that yes, it was indeed Valerie Lemercier! I couldn’t believe it! She’s actually a good friend of Gaelle’s family, many of whom are actors! For those of you who don’t know her by name, here is a pic of her.
