Hello Honfleur

We arrived in Honfleur yesterday after a quick train ride from Paris to Deauville. We picked up our rental car (yay for AC and gps!) and followed Gaelle to her house. We tried to beat the 90+ degree heat by playing water games in the backyard.

After a quick dinner for the kids, we drove to Trouville to swim in the English channel. We loved the sandy beach and Hannah had fun collecting shells and making sand castles. Julien’s brother brought his family and the kids had fun on boogie boards in the water.

We then drove to Deauville to see the boardwalk that is famous for its American film festival. who knew?!  We got home after 11 and had a late dinner and I finally got H to bed just before midnight!

This morning we had a nice breakfast in the backyard before heading into town to walk around some of Honfleur and visit Gaelle’s store and Julien’s atelier. We came home for lunch then had a nice nap before heading back into town. Mom, Hannah and I had 2 hours to walk around town, then we brought Cerise (8) back home wih us to make pancakes to eat for dessert with nutella.

I really enjoyed talking today with Julien’s brother and sister-in-law who are both middle school PE teachers. We have many of the same problems and concerns.

Tonight Hannah is having a sleepover in Cerise’s room with her sister Capucine (13)
