First FULL day in Paris

We had a pretty good night’s sleep and didn’t get out of bed until 8am.  After learning how to use our apartment’s shower without spraying too much water, we got ready for the day.  Our AirBnb hosts recommended a patisserie just a 5 minute walk away, so off we went to find it.  Hannah was wide eyed looking at all of the pastries.  We loaded up with breakfast food and treats - a gigantic meringue and a huge raspberry macaron.  We sat on a bench and munched on pain au chocolat, before heading to the Arc de Trimophe.

Every sight, sound, and smell are new for Hannah and she eagerly takes them in and narrates out loud the whole experience.  I keep telling her that this is my dream come true - showing Paris to my daughter.  She is open to trying new things and quickly makes  new favorites that we must revisit.  These include la durée macarons and a little park we found by the pont des invalides.

We welcomed nana and grandpa, who she lovingly calls grand-mère and grand-père now, to our apartment for the week.  Unfortunately, the elevator was broken and we had to lug up their suitcases 2 floors until we gave up and climbed the remaining 4 to collapse on the couch.  Miraculously, after our afternoon walk, the elevator had been repaired!

We had lunch in a little Italian place and encountered our first rude waiter - no alternations to the menu (who really won’t do buttered pasta for a kid when you have pasta marinara on the menu?!,  or give an extra plate for a jet-lagged couple who really couldn’t eat a whole meal at 3pm?!

On the walk home, we found our first crêpe stand and Hannah enjoyed her first Nutella crêpe in France. Such a yummy first!

Now we’re back at the apartment and Hannah is playing cards with the grandparents.  We’re trying to keep them up a little later so we are all recovered from jet lag tomorrow.
